Meet Our State Leaders



Julie Parsons, ABOC - LDO

Julie began her optical career in 1991 and has dedicated the many years since to helping patients achieve their best vision. She is an American Board of Opticianry certified and licensed dispensing optician. Julie has worked in many optical environments as an Optical Manager. Her passion and knowledge have made her an excellent representative of the profession and she has been able to attend trade shows across the country learning and promoting opticianry. Julie is proud to be the current President of the New Hampshire Opticians Society. It is her passion to educate, support and promote her profession.

When Julie is not working she enjoys kayaking and camping and is an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

Paul Quitadamo, ABOC

Paul entered the field of optics in 1991, when he enrolled in the Worcester Technical Institute's Ophthalmic Dispensing program. Since then he has worked both in Ophthalmology and Optometric practices.

Paul also owned The Eyeglass Outlet in Lebanon, NH for 13 years before he took a brief respite from the field to pursue broadcasting.

Paul is a former president of the New England Contact Lens Society and is currently a certified Tech II speaker for the ABO. Paul has also worked as a Clinical Outcomes Manager for Neuroplens and is currently an Ophthalmic Business Consultant for VSP. 

When asked what he likes to do in his spare time he answered, "what's that?"



Elizabeth Sargent, ABOC-AC/NCLE

Beth began her optical career in 2002 and she has spent the last 20 years head over heels in love with all things optical. She earned her ABO Advanced and NCLE certifications before spending some time in the wholesale sector learning more about the industry outside a dispensary. Beth’s true passion is patient care and she is thrilled to back in an optical shop taking care of people.  

Beth is a proud wife and mother of two. When she is not working, Beth loves to read, spend time outdoors, and be with her family.



Annika Cozad, ABOC

Annika began her career in the field in 1992 in Germany, where she went through a 3 year apprenticeship program to become a Certified Ophthalmic Optician. In 2000 she moved to the US and currently lives in Pembroke, NH with her husband and 3 sons.

She has been lucky to gain experience in various areas like pediatric and geriatric dispensing, finishing lab work, contact lenses, and has worked in multiple different practice settings. Annika is truly passionate about her job and enjoys building a trusting relationship with her customers. She owns EYEFIX Family Optical in Concord, NH and is certified by the American Board of Opticianry.

Our Board Members

Desiree Hamann, ABOC

Desiree began her optical career in 2004 as a lab technician. She moved on to a private practice and has worked as a dispensing optician since. She is currently the Optical Manager at Focused Eye Care in Nashua, NH. She resides in Milford.

In her free time she enjoys, gardening, cooking, golfing and skiing. She is an enthusiast of rollercoasters and UFO’s.


Donald Taylor, ABOC


Jackie Garrow, ABOC

Jackie Garrow is a ABO certified optician who began her career in 2004 in a retail box store and found true passion for the field. Jackie now works at Reed Optical where she is lead optician. Jackie continues to grow her knowledge in the field and help newer opticians learn the trade.

Jackie spends her free time with her 3 sons and 2 dogs as well as her fitness goals.


Denise Brady


Sarah Alfano, ABOC

Ten years ago, Sarah Alfano moved to the Granite state to begin her optical career. Today, she works an office manager supporting associates at Visionworks, as well as the Optometric Providers of New Hampshire.

Sarah has been ABO certified since May 2017.

Sarah is passionate about training and development of those who work to serve the optical needs of those that live in the greater Concord area.

When Sarah is not engaged in all things ophthalmic, she is enjoying time with her son and husband in Goffstown, New Hampshire.
